Pećina Orlovača

Pećina Orlovača spada u red najljepših pećinskih sistema u Bosni i Hercegovini. Do Orlovače vodi put dužine približno 1 kilometar. Do sada istraženi dio pećine iznosi oko 2.500 metara, sa razvijenim formama i detaljima pećinskog nakita: stalagmitima, stalaktitima, pećinskim stubovima, draperijama, različitim salivima, halaktitima, aragonitima, koralnim nakitom i bigrenim kadicama.

THE ORLOVACA CAVE

Orlovača Cave is one of the most beautiful cave systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is only 15 kilometers away from Sarajevo and located near the main road to Sokolac near Sumbolovac. A road approximately one kilometer long leads to Orlovača. In the immediate vicinity is the source of the river Sinjevo, in the background of which are the high rocks of the Orlovača rock (1056 m above sea level), on which stands a cave opening of almost 10,000 meters long cavernous system of the same name. So far, the explored part of the cave is about 2,500 meters, with developed forms and details of cave jewelry: stalagmites, stalactites, cave pillars, draperies, various saliva, halactites, aragonites, coral jewelry and bigren tubs. The permanent inhabitants of the cave are bats (Microchiroptera), as well as members of the endemic entomofauna. The bones of a cave bear (Ursus speleus) whose age is over 16,000 years were found in the cave. In addition to bear bones found at a distance of 400 meters, some other very interesting archeological details were found, such as an ax and fragments of pottery from 2,500 to 3,500 years old.
